Holidays 4: Visiting Verona

I was pretty excited today as we were travelling to Verona; I had heard so much about it, it being the city of Rome and Juliet and all the great reviews I had read online I was definitely ready to do some sight seeing! Dressed in one of my favourite outfits I was ready to hit the road when we departed Lake Garda.

It was a shorter journey than that to the Dolomites so I didn’t sleep too much this time. We stopped for a short while on our tour for our tour guide to indicate to some interesting viewing points.

Arriving at Verona I knew it was going to be a great day. The sun was shining in the sky thus the temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. and the town was choc a bloc with tourists. We left our tour guide over the main town bridge and met our walking tour guide who shared her knowledge of the town with us.

She brought us down some of the most prestigious shopping streets to understand the beautiful style and latest fashions. The shop windows displayed a wide variety of shoes and floral dresses. We paused for a while to take in the grandeur of the amphitheatre, most of which was preserved from the olden days of the gladiators.

After admiring the architecture we were prompted to notice the marble tiled ground that gave the area it’s prestigious air.

One of the most popular sights that we explored was the supposed houses of the Capulet’s and the Montague’s which attracted a lot of attention as a result of the play “Romeo and Juliet” by “William Shakespeare”. We took photographs of only the exterior of the Montagues dwelling place. Juliet’s house was stunning to say the least. We paid into the museum there and there were roughly four floors of items to admire; beds, clothes, cutlery and crockery and much more. Of course we stood at the balcony to get our photo taken.

After some more exploring and meandering around markets with tubs of fruit and several purchases of souvenirs it was high time for an ice cream; Italian style!! We walked a fair amount until we came across an ice cream shop that we deemed to look perfect! A scoop of vanilla and another of strawberry on a cone was enough to make me believe I was in heaven!! True proof of this is the fact that I didn’t even take a picture of it like I do with most of the food I eat- I was too busy eating and enjoying it!

It was a perfect day, one I will treasure!

As always a HUGE thank you for reading this!
