Day 4: A happy Memory

Ooooh I’ve so many it’d difficult to chose just one!! I suppose that’s a good thing, isn’t it?! It means there’s happy times to look back on and reflect upon. Happy memories are great and I’m glad that I have so many to enjoy and I hope I will have many more in the future.

The memory I have chosen is a concert I did in second class of primary school. I would have been about eight years at the time and it was a night of pure fun and excitement. The concert had songs from the Disney film A Little Mermaid which my whole class sang together as well as sections from the film we acted out.

I played Flounder the yellow and blue striped fish and my best friend played Sebastian the red crab. We had a line or two each but I remember we both thought it was great! I remember wearing yellow and blue clothes to match my character.

We practised for months on end until we knew both the songs and the dances off by heart. We performed the play that June on the stage in our school for all the parents and teachers. It was so much fun! I remember that wonderful feeling of excitement we had leading up to the big night. There was such a positive and upbeat atmosphere in the school that night and the weeks leading up to the concert. It was lovely to have the support of both my parents and godfather who came to watch the play.

Did you do concerts when you were in school?

School concerts were the best, weren’t they?
I was a terrible actress when I was younger (my dream of becoming an actress was obviously always out of my reach; thank god I woke up to that eventually!), so a lot of my school concerts went by in a blur, but I do remember one. I was in reception, about five years old, and we were telling this story about a chicken. I was given the main part, and damn, did I make sure everyone knew just how good I was! I was improving, even before I knew what improving was. πŸ˜‰

  2. This sounds like so much fun, I loved school concerts, they were my favourite thing about primary school other than the book fair! Thanks again for joining in with this x

      Thanks it was!!
      Ah that’s great!
Yeah I used to love the book fair too! It came every November to our school and each class had an allocated time to go down to the hall and choose a book to buy.
No problem at all, thanks so much for creating this challenge, it’s great fun!
